Our History

Touring Bike Trading Post founder Peter Mason first discovered his love for bicycle touring in 2006 when he rode from Washington, D.C., to New Jersey in four days. Two years later, he undertook perhaps his biggest bicycle touring challenge: a solo, six-month bike tour in western and central Europe.

This experience inspired him to start the Touring Bike Trading Post, a way for him to extend his knowledge and experience in bike touring to others interested in bicycle travel. The Touring Bike Trading Post works to offer new adventure cyclists with a few of the best options to get them started.

The goal of the site is to simplify the process of getting outfitted for a bicycle tour, so you can focus on the fun part: deciding where you want to ride and what you want to see!
